Women Artists of the West or WAOW (pronounced wow) was established in 1971 by a small group of women who wanted to create an organization dedicated to the support and promotion of women artists. The founders were initially women artists painting western themes, but WAOW has grown to include women artists throughout the world, and embraces many different styles and diverse subject matter.
